ABOUT ME
Hugo can't fully explain how political science and pre-law at Eastern Illinois University led to a career in post-production. He's stopped trying to. He found his way into post-production not long after, and has been crafting a career out of it ever since. Over the years, he's cut everything from social content to award-winning short films, picking up range and building instinct with every project along the way.
Narrative work is where he feels most at home. He likes giving a scene the space to unfold naturally, letting it find its own rhythm before it's shaped into something tighter - less about restraint, and more so about knowing when a story's finally found its shape. That same instinct carries into how he thinks about the industry more broadly - an eye toward representation, and a hope that more Latino storytellers keep finding their way into rooms like his, to work with, or alongside.
Outside of editing, his interests include everything from John Carpenter marathons to old Simpsons reruns, with the occasional X-Files rabbit hole in between — a loyal (if long-suffering) Bears fan every football season, and rarely without his Fuji camera nearby. At the end of the day, he's a new dad, a good visual storyteller, and Chicago through and through.
